Delinquent tax docket, 1935-[ongoing].

The tax collector of each county is required to prepare a docket that lists all delinquent property taxpayers and to submit the book to the probate judge (see Ala. Code, 40-10-2 and 40-10-3 [1975]). The probate judge then must issue a summons to the delinquent taxpayer notifying him that the land may be sold for taxes. Information in this series includes a description of the land, name and address of owner, assessed value of the land, amount of tax and fees due the state, amount of tax and fees due the county, and penalties. This information may be published in a local newspaper under certain conditions. This record began in 1935 and continues to the present.
